Fife is one of the best destinations in Scotland for family homes, business and tourism. And with Glenrothes as its centre, it is well equipped to serve its residence. It lacks one essential element – a high street, or as many residents have told over recent weeks, “what “Bl”high street?!”Currently, the centre of Glenrothes is occupied by the Kingdom Centre, owned by the Mars Pension Fund, not the council. This has been earmarked as an area of regeneration for many years with little result. We need to campaign for the creation of a much more community focused town centre, open 24 hours a day and not from 9-5:30.We need a high street that is worthy of the people of Glenrothes. A high street that the Fife community is naturally drawn to and proud of, with a wider variety of shops, more locally owned and run small businesses employing local people, and more facilities for the younger generation. Its been done before elsewhere & no reason why we cant do it.http://www.thecourier.co.uk/news/local/fife/town-centre-plans-represent-an-exciting-time-for-glenrothes-councillor-claims-1.798771Useful links: www.glenrothesfutures.org.uk/
